10 Great Dates to Revitalize your Marriage
It's not too late to join 10 Great Dates, a monthly program offered by the Healing Center at Church of the Apostles. 10 Great Dates is a book and video course by David and Claudia Arp which helps to spark romance, enhance communication and build stronger marriages. Each date night will include a brief word of encouragement, and a short video that sets the stage for discussion, couples are then sent out for their own private date. Free Childcare will be available by reservation for children up to age 11 (6th grade) beginning at 4:45pm and ending 8:00pm.
The biblical concept of marriage involves the oneness between a husband and wife that reflects the oneness of Christ with his church. Healing comes in relationships and what better way to impact our healing journey than within the context of marriage. We encourage participation of all married couples of all ages and stages: from newlyweds, couples knee deep in parenting to empty nesters. Each stage of marriage brings its own joys and challenges. The Date Night monthly topics will be supplemented with resource materials from Transforming Fellowship: 19 Brain Skills that Build Joyful Community by Chris Coursey, Love after Marriage by Barry and Lori Byrne and Keep Your Love On by Danny Silk.
Dates will be held on the third Saturday of the month. Topics do not build on each other, therefore you do not need to attend each one; however, there is great benefit to participating regularly. Dates will begin at 5:00pm in the Chapel at the Pender Office & Community Center in Fairfax. We will begin with a word of encouragement, a 15-minute video and date night ideas before you leave on your personal date. There will also be a monthly drawing for a restaurant or entertainment coupon and marriage resource book.
The cost of participation is $25.00 per couple for all ten dates and the book. We will provide the book to you on your first date. Please do not let the cost prohibit your participation, scholarships are available. Advance registration is required. Please register by February 12th so that we can plan for enough materials and adequate childcare. The fee is payable online or on your first date night.
Free childcare is available for kids 11 and under, but you must register children at least a week ahead of time each month. Childcare will be provided by well-trained teenagers and they will be overseen by Abigail Klein the nursery/childcare coordinator at Church of Apostles. We will accept donations for childcare. The money donated to the childcare will go towards the Apostles teens’ mission trips in 2018.
